Log Date: January 17, 2020

 

Day 1: 

Guest arrived at around 12 noon, after a Welcome drink and the safety briefing, we sat for lunch.

After a traditional Rice and curry meal, we set off for our first safari into Wilpattu National Park.

On safari we saw lots of flora and fauna, Birds, Deer, Mongoose, Tortoise and Sloth Bears, but no leopard today. Returned to lodge at around 6.45 pm and had drinks around 7.15, followed by a 4-course western meal.

Day 2:

Started at 6am with early breakfast at the lodge, enjoyed Sigiriya Rock, It was a beautiful sunny day, but a little humid as well. Both the gentlemen guests continued up to the top of the rock, while both ladies decided to stay back at the half way point. All of them enjoyed the snake charmers Cobra and the giant Python.

After lunch at a local Rukmali Restaurant, we all headed to Minneriyia National Park to see the Elephants.

After searching for few minutes, saw a beautiful family of female and baby Elephants! Guests were very happy, we then encountered further Elephant herds over the next several hours before calling it a day and returned to the lodge. Reached the lodge at 6 pm. after freshening up, we all joined up for wine and dinner at 7 pm meal.

Day 3:

After having breakfast at 7am, left to Anuradhapura site visit where guests enjoyed the old history and Buddhism culture by visiting the famous, Sri maha Bodhi, RuwanweliSeya, and Image house (Lowa maha paya) sites within the Ancient city.

Came back to the ATSL at 12.30 pm had a nice western and local lunch, which guests enjoyed immensely At 3.30pm went on a late safari aprox  2hrs to Wilpattu National Park  to again experience all the local flora and fauna, the highlight was a large male Elephant.  

Returned to ATSL at 6.45pm for pre-dinner drinks and to enjoy another beautiful 4 course meal.

Day 4:

Left ATSL at 6am, had picnic Breakfast near Habarana before continuing on the Monkey Kingdom at Polonnaruwa. The guests enjoyed all the 3 types of Monkey species that inhabit Sri Lanka and the famous Polonnaruwa world heritage Buddhist ruins. After the tour, we went to see the Gal Vihara and couple of other places.

Highlight was the Sri Lankan Lunch at Priyamali Restaurant, enjoyed the experience and the views were the best.

Arrived early at the lodge at around 6.45 pm. Guests were taken near the River behind the camp for a Bonfire and drinks, where they sat and enjoyed the peaceful ness near the river in front of the fire and some pre-dinner drinks. We saw beautiful constellations in the night sky, before returning to the restaurant for dinner.  The Chef was introduced, and guests praised him and his excellent food.

Day 5:

After an early breakfast and few group pics, they said good bye to us.
